Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree have documented their move to France with their children Arthur and Dorothy as they set about transforming the 19th century property in much-loved Channel 4 series Escape to the Chateau. Viewers have seen the couple marry in the enchanting castle and restore the chateau to its former gory by installing running water, heating and electricity. It was a mammoth task but against the odds, Dick and Angel have succeeded and now run a wedding and events business from the chateau. Unsurprisingly though, Dick had admitted he was nervous about packing up and leaving the UK with wife Angel.
The pair are madly in love with one another but they were still nervous about moving their life abroad to the chateau.
Despite their reservations however, they went ahead with the move and now couldn’t imagine life anywhere else.
In fact, the couple have admitted they “can’t bear to think about leaving” the Château de la Motte-Husson.
Opening up about his nerves, Dick admitted: “I was the wrong side of 50 but it didn’t matter as you only live once.
“Imagine not having the life we have now because I was scared?”
He added the couple’s determination to succeed convinced him they could start a new, happy life together.
“There are certain things in our life that we don’t doubt and any problems we know we can fix,” Dick told Hello! “We’ve both got that mindset.”
Unfortunately for the couple, the coronavirus pandemic meant they were unable to host events and weddings in 2020.
With these still on pause, they announced they would be setting up a competition to offer one lucky couple the chance to win £25,000 to spend on their wedding at the chateau.
Sharing the exciting news on their Instagram page, Angel explained: “Dick and I have been making extra effort to squeeze in some special dates together, whether it’s having a gorgeous dinner with the kids or taking a wintery stroll around the grounds.
“We have even turned some work evenings into dates!
“We cannot wait to start celebrating weddings again here and we wondered what we can do to get a bit of excitement flowing and bring a little love and joy?
