Coronation Street's Leanne Battersby is about to lock horns with Natasha Blakeman, as she struggles to process her grief over her son's deteriorating health.
Young Ollie has been diagnosed with an incurable form of mitochondrial disease, and though Leanne (Jane Danson) remains hopeful health experts in Germany can save his life, the time has come for reality to sink in.
Coronation Street spoilers have revealed Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) will fly to Germany during next week's trip to Weatherfield, hoping to get a statement of support from the doctors for the final hearing for Oliver's case.
Gail Platt (Helen Worth) lends young Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) a helping hand with the fundraising stall, chatting with Natasha – Nick Tilsley's ex-girlfriend – as they work.
Growing defensive, Gail warns Natasha (Rachel Leskovac) to stay away from Nick (Ben Price), fearing she will tear the family apart.
Later, a woman named Wendy meets Leanne and informs her she has been selected as Ollie's Guardian, only for the stricken mum to react angrily.
Accusing Wendy of siding with the doctors, Leanne lashes out, only for an embarrassed Nick to apologise to the Guardian.
When she hears Nick's apology, Leanne turns her temper on him and blasts him for refusing to side with her.
When a journalist named Suki offers to write an article on Ollie's condition to help raise funds, Leanne is initially willing to open up about his health battle.
However, when Suki mentions Ollie's death, which is tragically on the horizon, Leanne reacts furiously, losing her temper completely.
Later, Natasha assures Gail she has no plans to make a move on Nick but simply feels compassion for the family after learning of little Ollie's diagnosis.
Natasha then offers Nick £20,000 to help fund Ollie's treatment, making it clear she has nothing but good intentions.
When Steve returns from Germany, he shares the devastating news that doctors have decided Ollie's condition is too advanced for treatment, leaving Leanne inconsolable.
A conversation with Natasha tips her over the edge, as Nick's ex explains how she hoped to donate £20,000 to Ollie's funds.
Turning on Nick, she rages over his failure to mention the generous offer, leaving their relationship on the brink.
Leanne accuses him of refusing Natasha's money because he no longer believes Ollie can be saved and orders him to take the cash to pay off their legal fees.
Meanwhile, she assures Steve he did everything he could to convince the German doctors to help Ollie, as he looks towards the heartbreaking reality of Ollie's impending death.
Later, Nick opens up to Gail and reveals he fears Leanne is fighting a losing battle but is too scared to tell her the truth.
Offering Nick support, Gail gently urges him to speak honestly with his partner, as it is what Leanne needs to hear.
Can Leanne accept the tragedy that awaits her with poor Ollie, and can her relationship with Nick withstand the trauma?
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8pm on ITV.
