Coronation Street: Geoff’s downfall explained as Sally Webster steals his laptop and CCTV footage of his abuse

SALLY Webster steals Geoff’s laptop and tries to recover the CCTV footage of his final argument with Yasmeen next week in Coronation Street.

Viewers have been predicting that the footage – which proves Yasmeen’s innocence – will be the key to Geoff’s downfall for weeks on the ITV soap after Tim walked in on him deleting it earlier this year.

Does Sally manage to recover the CCTV footage of Geoff’s abuse in Corrie?

Soap bosses are yet to reveal whether Sally and Tim manage to retrieve Geoff’s CCTV footage, which he deleted from his laptop shortly after Yasmeen’s arrest.

But, along with the help of Faye Windass, they give it their best shot.

Spoilers for next week have revealed that Sally will get the keys to Geoff’s house from Faye and steal his laptop.

When she gets home, she tells Tim and Faye that she wants to view the footage.

The trio try to download the deleted camera app and CCTV footage.

Later, the police arrive and tell Geoff that new evidence has appeared – and that they have some questions for him.

Fans are desperate for the police to get their hands on the deleted footage.

One tweeted: "Please let Geoff’s laptop still have the deleted footage."

Another viewer added: "Geoff has deleted the footage but hasn’t emptied his trash. Sally will find the footage. #Corrie"

A third said: "Geoff not realising the police can probably still recover that deleted footage. #corrie"

What does the CCTV footage show in Corrie?

Corrie fans will remember that Geoff had a hidden CCTV camera installed in the house prior to Yasmeen’s arrest to watch her every move.

But when he launched at her with a knife in their final violent showdown, the fight was recorded by the camera.

The footage would make clear in court that Yasmeen had acted in self-defence when she slashed Geoff in the neck with the wine bottle.

Better still, if any of Geoff's past abuse is recorded on the hard drive of the camera, then the police could see that evidence and prosecute Geoff, putting him in prison instead of Yasmeen.

Will this be the end for Geoff?

Corrie are yet to confirm whether the discovery of Geoff’s laptop will spell the end for his reign of terror.

But that hasn’t stopped fans hoping that Sally’s discovery will finally bring the coercive control storyline to a close.

One fan tweeted: "Love Corrie, but totally over this storyline now… I’m sorry but Geoff needs to now get what’s coming to him. Camera, Laptop, Escorts, Yasmeen STD it all needs to come out & he either gets locked up or leaves for good. Come  on Corrie finish this story!"

Another viewer added: "Tim, go onto Geoff’s laptop. The truth lies there!"

Corrie producer Ian MacLeod has already confirmed that Geoff will meet his downfall this year.

He previously said: "What form that comeuppance takes is still in discussion. We wanted a redemptive ending ultimately for Yasmeen."

Adding that he, Ian and Shelley had been in correspondence with real-life abuse victims, Ian continued: "For the sake of all those people, we have to tell the right ending with some positivity and optimism."
