Coronation Street fans left cringing after spotting Peter Barlow's awkward wardrobe blunder | The Sun

EAGLE-EYED Coronation Street fans were seriously distracted by resident Peter Barlow's embarrassing wardrobe blunder.

The Street Cars taxi driver – played by Chris Gascoyne – made his return to the cobbles in last night's episode after being missing for weeks.

He made a memorable return appearance as viewers couldn’t help but notice he suffered a rather unfortunate outfit issue during the episode.

In a scene with Ryan (Ryan Prescott), they talked about Ryan's topless photo showing of his abs that got accidentally posted onto social media by Carla (Alison King).

Admiring the likes and comments, Peter was glad Ryan's confidence was high and was putting himself out there again.

However, viewers were distracted by Peter's tight-fitting grey t-shirt that appeared to have sweat patches near his armpits.

Taking to X, formally known as Twitter, one viewer said: "Was Pete a bit sweaty under the armpits then.”

Another wrote: “Jesus man why did you film Peter with them sweaty pits like that!”

A third penned: “Can I ask why Peter had sweaty armpits in that scene?"

This comes after the ITV bosses announced that Peter Barlow actor Chris Gascoyne will be taking an extended break after 23 years on the soap.

The Sun exclusively revealed he will leave the show later this year in a big storyline.

An insider said: "Chris has decided to take an extended break from the soap. He loves working at Coronation Street, but he's got a lot of things he wants to do and the time is right for him to take a break and pursue other roles.

"It isn't a final goodbye and the door is very much being left open.

"Obviously fans will be devastated but there's a good few months of huge drama yet before he bids farewell to the cobbles."

The Sun understands there is no set return date but the plan is for Chris to return as Peter in the future.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
