During Tuesday’s rerun of A Place in the Sun, Channel 4 host Scarlette Douglas was on a mission to find newlyweds Karl and Naomh their dream holiday home in Menorca. The couple, who met at university, were looking for a property with a top budget of £230,000. However, the property expert didn’t get off to the best of starts as the couple were not impressed by the first three holiday homes. Despite trying to meet the duo’s criteria, Karl and Naomh cut the third viewing short after admitting they weren’t “feeling it”.
The couple explained they were looking for a two-bedroom property that came with an office.
Naomh said a swimming pool was a “necessity” and they wanted plenty of outdoor space for their dogs.
The first villa Scarlette took the couple to was just 15 minutes away from the beach and it came with a private pool.
“Amazing,” Naomh commented when she saw the pool. “It’s gated off as well.”
The property came with three bedrooms, an open plan kitchen and living area and had two bathrooms.
The couple seemed to be impressed with the villa at a first glance, although they were not keen on how small the kitchen was.
The A Place in the Sun guests also pointed out the bathrooms and bedrooms were “too small” for them.
Ruling out the villa, Naomh said: “I can’t see us living here.”
The second property was a 10-minute walk from the main square and also came with a private pool.
My only worry is the main road,” Karl explained before they had even stepped foot inside the property.
After viewing the property, the duo admitted it was an improvement from the first villa.
However, they were still unhappy with how small the bedrooms were, and so they ruled it out completely.
After realising they needed to compromise, Karl and Naomh told Scarlette they were willing to look at a holiday home that didn’t come with a swimming pool.
However, when Scarlette showed them the third property which was priced way below their budget at £165,000, the couple were still not impressed.

At a first glance, the duo seemed to love the large outdoor space, but they changed their minds completely when they stepped foot inside.
“It’s very strange,” Naomh said as she spoke about the layout of the living area. “I am not feeling it anymore.”
As Scarlette proceeded to show the couple around, she noticed they weren’t impressed.
“You’re not feeling it are you?” she asked as Naomh simply hit back: “No.”
“I just can’t see us here at all,” she added as the property expert said: “You’re adamant it’s a definite no?”
“Do you want to see any more of it?” Scarlette asked them as Noamh promptly said: “No.”
“No? Just straight out?” a baffled Scarlette quizzed.
After failing to impress the couple, Scarlette asked the pair if there was any wriggle room with their budget.
After a chat, the pair decided to add an extra £50,000 to their budget so they could broaden the properties they looked at.
This seemed to make a huge difference because they instantly fell in love with the fourth property, which was a four-bedroom villa with a swimming pool.
They decided to put an offer in for the villa for £235,000, which was accepted by the current owners.
A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4.
