Things are getting even stranger between James Harden and Rockets
The Knicks have had a quiet offseason, which has mostly been celebrated as they at least avoided the type of overspending that could later cripple their salary crap.
So, they have been minding their own business as drama plays out in different sectors of the NBA. The most notable situation is James Harden trying to force his way off the Rockets and ideally into a trade to the Nets.
Harden has been a no-show at Rockets camp and new coach Stephen Silas said there is “no timetable” for him to show up.
Enter the Knicks bashing:
“Some news: A person familiar with James Harden’s thinking described the Rockets’ culture as toxic and called them the ‘Knicks of the South,’” tweeted Sports Illustrated’s Rohan Nadkarni.
“I’m not sure it’s in Houston’s best interests to drag this situation out. Harden is under contract, but stars take notice of how other stars are treated around the league. That’s the game now.”
Despite success on the court, the Rockets’ culture has been questioned amid the trade demands of Harden and Russell Westbrook, who was shipped to the Wizards for John Wall and a first-round pick last week.
The situation between Harden and the Rockets seems destined to get uglier, and the Knicks are now part of that evidence.
