Nate Diaz rules out trilogy fight with Conor McGregor and tells bitter rival he 'sucks' in fresh fight demand to UFC

NATE DIAZ has refused to fight Conor McGregor in the final bout of his UFC contract.

Ultimate Fighter season five winner Diaz has one fight left on his current deal with mixed martial arts' premier promotion.

The UFC brass have seemingly not offered the fan favourite a fight since their attempt to book him in a showdown with Khamzat Chimaev and have no plans to grant him his release.

MMA fans believe the UFC are keeping Diaz on the ice for a trilogy fight with McGregor – which the Stockton native wants no part of.

He tweeted: "I been trying to fight everybody and no go what’s the hold up UFC?

"I’m not fighting Conor he sucks. I’ll fight someone quit slow-rolling me please. Thanks."

Diaz and McGregor, 36 and 33 respectively, took part in two of the most memorable fights in recent UFC history six years ago.

Stockton submission specialist Diaz won the pair's first clash at UFC 196, tapping McGregor out with a second-round rear-naked choke.

McGregor avenged his first loss in the octagon six months later at UFC 202, edging a five-round war via majority decision.

Diaz hasn't set foot inside the cage since his unanimous decision defeat to Brit Leon Edwards at UFC 263 last June.

McGregor, meanwhile, has been on the sidelines since his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier last July – in which he suffered a horrific broken leg.

The Irishman is in the final stages of recovering from the injury and UFC president Dana White expects him to return to action in the autumn.

White recently told SunSport: "We're looking at early fall, if everything goes right.

"If his leg heals right and he gets the clearance to really start training, then possibly early fall."

When pressed on a potential opponent for the Dubliner, White added: "I literally have nothing for him right now, he's not ready.

"The whole landscape could change over the summer."
