Man Utd fans all say the same thing about Bruno Fernandes as he passionately celebrates win over Southampton | The Sun

BRUNO FERNANDES passionately celebrated upon the final whistle as Manchester United edged past Southampton in Saturday's lunchtime kick-off.

The Portuguese midfielder made it two wins out of two this season since taking the armband in place of the dropped Harry Maguire.

Fernandes, 27, swept home United's 55th minute winner on a tricky afternoon at St Mary's.

And after United were made to work by their hosts to hold on to the three points, Fernandes showed just what it meant to him as the match ended.

When the final whistle sounded, he roared with pure delight – and fans absolutely adored his passion as skipper.

One wrote: "Our captain."

After the 1-0 win, Fernandes said: "We knew playing against Southampton is not easy. We have experienced that already.

"Sometimes you have to suffer. Every game is tough. Well done to us. Massive three points for us. Now we have to carry on.

"It's important because one win or two wins don't make the league. We have to carry on this sacrifice for the rest of the season.

"It is what this club demands. After Liverpool everyone could feel it. We set the standard so we have to carry on now and if we can, improve it."

On his goal, he added: "It was a great ball. Great play from behind. Anthony (Elanga), when he dropped the ball everything was perfect.

"Marcus (Rashford) or Jadon (Sancho) make the run and it makes the space for me. This is what we worked on. Well done to everyone and cheers for me.
