Liverpool vs Leicester moved to Sunday night as Prem axe controversial PPV games after fan backlash

PREM chiefs have confirmed the end of the Pay Per View experiment – and that every game until early January will be available to fans.

SunSport reported how clubs had agreed the backlash to the £14.95 match charge made the situation unsustainable when the Prem returns after the international break after four rounds of games were on Box Office channels.

And now that stance has been underlined with a statement that “all fixtures from Saturday 21 November, and throughout the Christmas and New Year period, will be made available to fans to watch live in the UK”.

Liverpool's clash with leaders Leicester next weekend has been moved to Sunday night at 7.15pm on Sky Sports.

Manchester United against West Brom, meanwhile, will be played on Saturday at 8pm live on BT Sport.

The vast majority of the extra matches – five in most fixture rounds – will be screened by Sky and BT.

But some games will also be shown on BBC and Amazon Prime, starting with the Beeb showing Everton’s trip to Fulham on November 22.

Sky Sports will show 13 live games between now and the end of November with five on BT Sport and one apiece on BBC and Amazon.

And the return of fans – now looking more likely before the end of the season – is almost certain to see a reversion to matches not picked by the TV companies reverting to being unscreened live in the UK.

In their statement, the Prem bosses said: “There is a full schedule of Premier League games over the festive period and clubs are committed to an accessible solution for fans.

“These plans have been made with the cooperation of our broadcast partners, working with us to deliver these additional matches while stadiums are missing the supporters who are such an integral part of the game.

“The agreement will be reviewed in the new year following consultation with clubs, broadcast partners and in line with any decisions made by Government regarding the return of spectators to stadiums.”
