Golf tips and betting offers – Three picks for Waste Management Phoenix Open: Claim risk free £20 bet with Paddy Power

THE PGA Tour is in Phoenix for the Waste Management Open this week with some big names among the challengers.

Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele hold up the top end of the betting market.

While off form Brooks Koepka, Bubba Watson, Rickie Fowler and Hideki Matsuyama offer some depth to the field.

Paddy Power are offering new customers a risk free £20 bet, which you can claim here*.

To take advantage of the offer simply sign up, and place a £20 bet on any sportsbook market, and if it loses Paddy Power will refund you in cash.

And SunSport's golf correspondent David Facey brings you his tips for the event.

Hot tip: Justin Thomas, 8-1

Jon Rahm’s position at the head of the market means Thomas is an attractive price, especially after finishing third here for the last two years.

He can be forgiven his missed cut in Abu Dhabi, as he was clearly distracted by the homophobic slur row.

That fuss seems to have finally died down, and Thomas will be a different proposition here.

The world No 3 has finished in the top four in three of his last four PGA Tour starts, and a 15th win cannot be far away.

Mid Price: Daniel Berger, 18-1

Needs to step up on his four top 12 finishes here – including a share of ninth last year – but he has been in the form of his life since finding something during lockdown, and has spent the last five months in the top 15 of the world rankings

Nine top tens in his last 17 starts including a win, a second, and two thirds.

He has a similar game to last year’s winner, Webb Simpson, and at 27 there is plenty more improvement to come.

Longshot: Nate Lashley, 300-1

His odds reflect the fact that Lashley is hit and miss – plenty of weekends off, but his third place here last year, and a victory at the 2019 Rocket Mortgage Classic, prove he can get hot too.

He took an instant liking to this course a year ago, and was one of only five players to post four sub-70 scores.

That was good enough to see him finish level with Justin Thomas and Bubba Watson, which is pretty good company to find yourself in.
