Teddi Mellencamp: My edit ‘should have been the writing on the wall’ for firing

Teddi Mellencamp knew her “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” exit was a long time coming.

On the latest episode of her podcast, “Teddi Tea Pod With Teddi Mellencamp,” the former reality star, 39, revealed she found out she was no longer a “Housewife” from her friends before she heard it from the network, but had a feeling her termination was imminent.

“The craziest part about it was, I think it was last Monday, I woke up, I was on the Peloton and my girlfriends started texting me. My non-television show girlfriends and they’re like, ‘Hey, is everything cool?’” she began. “And I’m like, ‘Why?’ And they’re like, ‘It’s all over the Daily Mail that you’re no longer a ‘Housewife.’ And I was like, ‘Oh come on!’”

Mellencamp then read the article — posted earlier this month — and sent a message to her team to ask if it was true. She had been a “Housewife” for three seasons.

“Maybe, not three hours later, I get the phone call and they’re like, ‘Hey.’ And I’m like, ‘What?’ And they’re like, ‘So, um, your contract is not getting renewed as a ‘Housewife,’” she continued, laughing, “And I’m like, ‘You are telling me that it’s released to the Daily Mail before me!’”

The mom-of-three admitted she was blindsided by the decision and heartbroken to learn she wouldn’t be returning for another season. Looking back on the past season, she realized she should have seen that she was being phased out.

“I think for the last couple of months, I had been preparing myself,” she said. “Because we had like a really busy year last year with our family. Like, I got pregnant naturally for the first time. I was able to tell the kids. I filmed so many amazing things that were never shown on the show … it should have been the writing on the wall.”

“All the things that make me a likable, redeeming human being were not shown on the season,” she said with a laugh.

Her son Cruz, 6, took the news harder than she did.

“The only person that was really pissed was my son Cruz,” she shared. “[He was like] ‘Mom, what did you do? I wanted to be famous, now what?’”

For now, she’s still in touch with Kyle Richards, who she considers one of her best friends, Erika Girardi and Lisa Rinna via a group text. Surprisingly, she also reached out to Dorit Kemsley.

“We’ve had extreme highs and lows on the show, but [I told her], ‘I wanted to let you know that I just want to wish you the best,’” Mellencamp said. “Dorit has a good heart.”

It is unclear who will replace Mellencamp when “RHOBH” returns.
