Aldi and Lidl are best known for their middle aisle, where customers can find a plethora of random treasures. Now, a company wants to hire people to work one of three jobs where successful applicants can earn a living while shopping in the middle aisle.

A discount voucher website is recruiting people to work as the world’s first middle aisle shoppers.

The role’s objective is to buy any limited-edition products from Aldi or Lidl’s middle aisle.

The products will then be sold online for consumers who missed out on them the first time to purchase.

Called We Thrift, the website wants to recruit three people for this unique role.

The middle aisle shoppers will be paid as much as £30 an hour to hunt for limited-edition items.

The role is a remote, flexible, and freelance position.

Employees will be given £500 to spend on a specific number of products.

The website’s aim is to give everyone – from all parts of the UK – the opportunity to buy Aldi and Lidl’s limited-edition stock online.

The items will be the same price as they were originally on sale for on Aldi and Lidl shelves.

Customers can therefore expect the exact same product, but via WeThrift.com, and not the supermarkets.

Britons who want to apply for the middle aisle shopper job must be over 18 years of age, have access to a computer or smartphone, and be able to travel to at least one Lidl, Aldi, and Sainsbury’s shop.

Potential workers can start applying for the job now, and successful candidates will be chosen by February 18.

The roles were created following research undertaken by We Thrift on good and supermarket brand merchandise over the last 10 years.

The research involved making a list of the most valuable brand merchandise, which was decided on by We Thrift after studying eBay pricing date for products across several of Britain’s biggest brands.

The discount voucher website also analysed specific collectible ranges from each supermarket, such as Aldi’s Kevin the Carrot range, or Lidl’s 2021 clothing range.

There was also Sainsbury’s Disney Heroes Card range in 2021.

Nick Drewe, who founded We Thrift in 2017, said: “In the UK we know that people have an affinity for reselling products.

“Whether it’s old sofas, second-hand trainers, or Aldi’s Kevin the Carrot plush toy, if there’s a buck to be made the entrepreneurial British people will be selling it.

“However, sometimes a product is particularly popular in one area, therefore hundreds of consumers may miss out.”

Mr Drewe added: “We want to ensure that everyone has the chance to buy a converted middle aisle product.

“Our hope is to get all of the candidates confirmed by the middle of February, so if you love browsing the middle aisle of a discount supermarket, please get in touch.”
