Princess Diana would have been a ‘nightmare’ granny, claims Prince William

The royal baby is surrounded not only by the love of his parents but also the whole royal family and excited fans in Britain and around the world.

His arrival has been greeted by utter joy by his proud dad, Prince Harry , after mum Meghan Markle gave birth just before 5:30am today.

And while the young royal has one of the most famous great grandmothers in the world, he sadly only has one grandmother.

The Duchess of Sussex's mum, Doria Ragland, was with her daughter at Frogmore Cottage when she gave birth and is sure to dote on her young grandson.

But Prince Harry's own mother, Princess Diana, tragically died in a car crash in Paris when her son was just 12.

Harry was always extremely close to his mum and was devastated by grief following her death.

He has since gone on to found several charities in her memory.

But, now he has become a father for the first time, the sadness at her not being here to meet her grandson must be painful.

Prince William has made sure his own three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, are aware of what an amazing woman theuir grandmother was.

The family home in Kensington Palace is filled with photos of Princess Diana and William and Kate make sure they talk about their little ones' absent grandmother often.

In 2017's Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, William stressed he was "constantly talking about Granny Diana" with his children.

He said: "We've go more photos up rund the house of her now and e talk about her.

"It's hard because obviously Catherine didn't know hre so she cannot really provide that level of detail.

"So I do regularly when putting George or Charlotte to bed, talk about her and just try to remind them that there are two grandmothers in their lives.

"It's important that they know who she was and that she existed."

However, the Duke of Cambridge has joked that his mother would have been a "nightmare" as a grandmother.

He said: "She's be a nightmare grandmother – absolute nightmare.

"She'd love the children to bits but she'd be an absolute ighmare.

"She'd come and go and she'd come in, probably at bath tim, cause an amazing amount of scene, bubbles everywhere, bathwater everywhere, and then leave."

The royal baby , whose name is yet to be announced, is believed to have been born at Harry and Meghan's home in Frogmore cottage and weighed 7lb 3oz.

A beaming Prince Harry made an announcement earlier tday.

He said: "I'm very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy this morning, a very healthy baby boy.

"I haven't been at many births. This is definitely my first birth – it was amazing, absolutely incredible.

"I'm so incredibly proud of my wife.

"And as every father and parent would say, your baby is absolutely amazing."

Prince Harry added: "How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension. But we're both absolutely thrilled.

"We're both absolutely thrilled and so grateful for all the love and support from everybody out there, it's been amazing, so we just wanted to share this with everybody.

"But this little thing is absolutely to-die-for so I'm absolutely over the moon.

"It's been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined."
