Nightlife mogul Richie Akiva threw a massive bash in St. Barts for New Years Eve, with a source telling us there were hundreds of people partying at a three-floor private villa till 5 a.m.
“There was super strict security,” said a source. “A lot of people couldn’t get in, and waited hours trying.” The source added that, “A few guests got kicked out for pulling out their phones and recording videos.”
As for COVID-19 precautions, we’re told: “The staff working there was fully masked up with gloves. But the partygoers [definitely] didn’t have any masks on.”
When reached by phone, Akiva told us of the island bash, “It was 200 people and very private, invite-only. The whole island had heard [about the party], so they showed up and tried to get in. We made sure we temperature checked everybody, our invited guests, like they would do with any restaurant.”
He further explained, “We didn’t want cameras or pictures because it was a private event, and [we] wanted people to live in the moment and not worry.”
The ritzy vacation destination was full of celebs and VIPs over the holiday. Page Six sources saw mega art dealer Larry Gagosian, real estate moguls Aby Rosen and Michael Fuchs, and yachts owned by billionaires Roman Abramovich, Eugene Schvidler and Len Blavatnik offshore. Paul McCartney, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, and Amy Schumer were also seen on the island.
