Morrisons shopper secures 90% discount and scoops £30 worth of food for just £3

A man has lifted the lid on his latest bargain where he nabbed £30 worth of food from Morrisons for just £3.09.

Jonathan Hanson, 36, shared photos of the giant boxes of food to the website, which includes £10 worth of chicken breast.

The Sheffield dad didn’t stop at one shopping trip either – he went back twice and ended up with food to last for weeks for less than a tenner.

His bargain buys included mince pies, packets of crisps, cake, lots of chicken, dry-cured ham joint and pizza pockets.

He even scooped fresh peppers, asparagus, baby plum tomatoes, fruit, carrots, leeks and mushrooms to go with the pork pies and pasties at a discounted price.

Jonathan bagged the incredible deal after using an app called Too Good To Go – which enables customers to pick up discount food before it’s taken off the shelves.

The dad said: “The app allows you to purchase 'magic bags’, which are bags of food which would have been wasted instead. Think I got very lucky. I've had a couple of good ones, but this blew them out of the water. £10 just in chicken breast!”

After this incredible result, Jonathan headed back again, writing: “Two more boxes collected today, again both good hauls. Some things dated well into the year too!"

He continued: “I always enjoy the surprise of what we get, as does my seven-year-old daughter.

"I love to use the Too Good To Go app as not only do I get a bargain, but I also save wasted food and get to try things I may not otherwise choose to buy.”

Speaking about his “three main tips” for getting the most of the app, Jonathan explained: “Firstly, add your local stores to favourites, as this makes it much easier to keep an eye on them.

"Secondly, watch what time the item sold out the day before, as this will be a rough time when it will come available that day (the Morrisons boxes sell out almost instantly).

“Number three, keep refreshing your favourites. When the item for sale changes from 'Sold out at xx:xx' to 'Sales ended' that means the new boxes for that day will be coming live very soon."
