Melania Trump is the First Lady of the United States and wife of Donald Trump. The couple met while at a party in New York in 1998 and married seven years later. Since then, they have had one child together, Barron Trump, 14.
When the couple tied the knot, Melania also became the stepmother of Donald’s four children from previous relationships.
In 2017, Donald was inaugurated as the 45th US President and Melania took on the role as First Lady.
Previously working as a fashion model, she began to support her husband in his political role.
The First Lady has also backed campaigns of her own and spoken at political events.
For example, she will often speak on the Be Best initiative which supports the well-being of children and fights against cyberbullying and drug use.
In the last few weeks, Melania has been making slightly different speeches when in public.
She recently attended an event for the Republican party convention which took place at the White House.
While at the event, Melania spoke about why she thinks her husband should be reelected.
Analysing the event, body language expert Judi James explained Melania’s role in the White House has grown in importance.
Judi also claimed that she appeared slightly nervous when addressing the crowds.
She told Express.co.uk: “The suggestion of the speech was that Trump’s team now cherish and value Melania’s impact and potential in a way that they never seemed to in the early days of the presidency.
“The way her arms pumped gently against her ribs in a self-motivating ritual, suggested that this promotion might not have been prompted by her though.
“She didn’t grab at the moment, but with Trump watching from the audience as though he was still running The Apprentice, she still managed to make her own mark.”
Judi suggested the speech highlighted some differences between Melania and her husband and her importance in the election campaign.
“By emphasising all the contrasting traits between her and Donald they do appear to have hit what could be a winning formula,” the expert continued.
“Melania is static and understated in her expressions and gestures, where Donald is a constant welter of extremes.
“Melania looks poised, elegant and rehearsed to within an inch of her life while Donald is all about spontaneity.”
Melania’s body language with Donald recently could suggest they have grown to have more of a shared role in the White House.
Judi added: “Melania also does stories and empathy and sympathy during her speeches. Donald now looks happy doing a little power and attention-sharing with his wife.”
