Kyle Chandler to Star as Bill Gurley in Showtime’s Uber Series ‘Super Pumped’

Kyle Chandler is joining the cast of Showtime’s anthology series “Super Pumped,” the television adaptation of Mike Isaac’s book, “Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber.”

The “Friday Night Lights” and “Bloodline” actor will star as Bill Gurley, described as “the plainspoken, brilliant Texan venture capitalist who bets his sterling reputation on Uber’s success – and then has to live with the consequences.”

The news comes days after Showtime announced that Joseph Gordon-Levitt would star as Uber CEO and co-founder Travis Kalanick, who was ousted from the Silicon Valley unicorn in a boardroom coup. “Billions” creators Brian Koppelman and David Levien, as well as “Soundtrack’s” Beth Schacter, will serve as executive producers, writers and showrunners on the series. Paul Schiff and Allyce Ozarski will also executive produce, alongside writer Stephen Schiff. Isaac is a co-executive producer on the project, produced by Showtime.

“Kyle Chandler brings deep integrity, authentic presence and undeniable magnetism to every role he inhabits,” said Amy Israel, executive vice president of scripted programming at Showtime Networks. “We’re excited to see the dynamic pairing of Chandler as the brilliant Bill Gurley and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the high-flying disruptor. With these two actors leading the charge, the series promises to be a riveting, wild ride.”

Chandler is best known on TV as Coach Eric Taylor on “Friday Night Lights,” as well as his roles on “Bloodline” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” On the big screen, the Emmy-winning actor was most recently in “Godzilla vs. Kong” and “The Midnight Sky,” and previously appeared in “Manchester by the Sea,” “The Wolf of Wall Street” and “Zero Dark Thirty.”
