Kate Middleton and Prince William, both 38, have been married for nearly 10 years. The Duchess of Cambridge is happy to speak about parenting and has regularly opened up on her own experiences. What is her parenting style?

The royals are the parents of Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two.

While the children regularly enjoy privacy, they have delighted royal fans with more frequent appearances over the years.

Kate is also happy to give a glimpse into her home life by opening up on parenting, according to parenting expert and managing director at Kiddies Kingdom Mohammed Patel.

He said: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are the future of UK royalty and one of the nation’s most beloved family units.

“Since giving birth to their first son, George, in 2013, Kate has been praised for her relaxed and regular parenting style and it is arguably since becoming a mum that she has stolen the nation’s hearts.”

As a senior royal, the Duchess of Cambridge is sure to have access to a range of help while parenting.

However, the expert suggested she has always seemed to use relatable techniques instead.

Kate has spoken about the importance of mental health and wellbeing in children in the past.

This is something she is sure to focus on with her children by encouraging them to speak out.

The parenting expert explained this could be different to what royals have done before.

He continued: “Kate and William have always shown an interest in mental health and wellbeing.

“Their honesty in talking about her own struggles is refreshing and, in some way, unheard of for the Royal Family.

“Kate never shies away from talking about uncomfortable topics and her parenting style reflects this, making sure she is as open and honest with her family as possible.

“Whilst it is important not to overwhelm children, instilling clear communication from a young age will help them feel confident and independent enough to make their own decisions.”

By encouraging their children to speak about their emotions, Kate and Prince William could improve their confidence.

As well as being open, the mother-of-three could be showing her children how to be empathetic, Mohammad continued.

During the coronavirus lockdown, Princess Charlotte was seen helping her parents deliver food parcels to elderly and vulnerable Britons.

He said: “Kate has always had a passion for charity work and giving back and where possible, is beginning to involve her children in this process.

“With this, Kate is teaching her children the importance of helping others less fortunate and using their roles for good, which in turn instils gratitude and respect from a young age.”
