The family is made up of mum Carolynne, Dad Andrew and four children – eldest son Pascal, Louis and sisters Alex and Cathryn.

Fans were shocked to learn that sometimes Cathryn replaces Alex, with the two sisters looking so alike that some viewers didn’t notice.

Cathryn was travelling in Australia when the family first signed up for the show, but since returning to the UK, she occasionally makes an appearance.

The family clearly are collectors, and showcase their plate collection in the dining room, and their fridge magnet collection in the kitchen.

The rest of the home is finished with personal touches in every room, including plenty of family photos.

The Michaels are clearly a family of readers, with many shelves of books in each room, including youngest son Louis' bedroom.

Eldest son Pascal studies neuroscience at university. Meanwhile, Louis is studying at the University of Chichester, while sister Alex has a Masters in Computer Science.

The living room is cosy and while the rest of the family sit on the comfy charcoal sofa, Dad Andrew is always on his floral armchair.

While the Michael family are one of the longest standing Gogglebox families, they did take a break in 2014 after Andrew's career choice forced producers to axe the family from the show.

They say never mention politics or religion, but dad Andrew went a step further and ran to be a UKIP MP.

Producers are believed to have given the family the chance to withdraw from the political race, however, Andrew refused.

Executives didn’t take too kindly to his decision, and the family was sadly axed.

“Any Gogglebox cast member who becomes a candidate for a political party will have to step down from their involvement in Gogglebox,” a Channel 4 spokesperson said at the time.

Despite his best efforts, Andrew ended up losing his election and this led to the family being reinstated on the show in 2015.

"Now I have stepped down from my official position as prospective parliamentary candidate. I was happy to step down in order to pick up Gogglebox,” Andrew told The Sun at the time.
