How Stacey Solomon’s Gonk obsession has made the stuffed gnome most sought after Christmas toy

Stuffed toys are certainly not just for children when it comes to Christmas, judging by Stacey Solomon's obsession with her gonks.

The furry gnome-like creatures have swamped the high-street and the Loose Women's home as she started collecting various shapes and sizes after she made her own called 'Norm'.

Since then Stacey has gone gonk mad and her followers have joined in on the trend which has made it one of the most sought-after Christmas toys, as shoppers going mad for them.

Poundland revealed that their gonks, which are priced at £3, are their best-selling item in store after seeing a huge spike in sales, no doubt in part thanks to Stacey latest obsession.

The high street store, which is one of non-essential shop that will remain open during the latest lockdown, said: "As the UK stocks up on festive goodies ahead of the latest lockdown announcement, Poundland has seen a huge surge in sales of their fun festive Gonk range."

As shoppers get ready early for Christmas, other festive decorations including lights and Christmas cards have also been selling well for the retailer.

Recently Stacey swapped her Halloween decorations for her Christmas ones sharing photos of herself hugging her gonk collection and even changing her bedspread to match.

While Stacey's obsession is something Joe Swash said he's "worried" about, the mum of three doesn't appear to be slowing down when it comes to her collection.

She shared another furry gonk which she made out of cardboard cones and cut up socks, with her followers who told her to call it Noel to join Norm.


Fans of Stacey, who has bought her gonks from all over the high street, have also been stocking up on their own, with one woman making her own sleigh for the Poundland stuffed toys to sit on.

"Finally found these in @poundland in town! Look how absolutely adorable they are, had to get two of them #gonks #christmas #poundland," another posted of two cream gonks.

"Little trip to @poundland this morning led to the purchase of another gonk (£3) and some little silver ceramic animals (£1 each)," shared one.

Another posted on Facebook about her collection: "I didn't particularly want ANY.. now I have 7.. and none with legs."

In Poundland's Sunderland store shared an impressive display of gonks, but warned shoppers they might miss out: "They’re here……. get em quick before they go go go. #Gonks #PoundlandChristmas"
