Five savvy tips to make bath time more fun for the kids without breaking the bank

WITH toys and bubbles, foams and fizzers, kids love to have a whale of a time in the bath.

But the cost of an evening’s good, clean fun soon mounts up.

Here’s how to let them enjoy a soak for less . . .

BUBBLING OVER: Fizzers are a popular way to make the routine more fun. The Dirty Works Getting Fizzy With It pouch of mini bath bombs is £4 at Sainsbury’s, while at Boots the Beauty Crush trio of fizzers is £4 down from £8. At The Works, you can pick up a Make Your Own Magical Surprise Bath Bomb Kit for £6, down from £12.

FASHION YOUR OWN: You can make your own fizzers by whisking together bicarbonate of soda, cornflour, citric acid and Epsom salt. In a separate dish, mix some base oil, essential oil and food colouring.

Add the oil mixture into the dry mixture just a little at a time, whisking as you go.

Finish by adding a few drops of water and whisk again, until the mixture starts to clump. Pop it into a mould and leave to dry for a few hours. Then drop it in the bath for fizzy fun. See

SOLVE THE PUZZLE: You can find some great foam jigsaws and games that stick to the side of the bath. At, the Janod bath explorers map is reduced from £13 to £9.

At Wilko, you can get a 65-piece buddies alphabet set for £3.50 to spell out words while in the tub. Or try the six-pack of bath crayons for £1 at Poundland.

KEEP IT CLEAN: Superdrug has a twin-pack of sponges for £1.49, while Boots has face-cloths for £1 each. Tesco kids’ sensitive bath and bodywash (500ml) is £1.50.
