EastEnders’ Tyler Moon star Tony Discipline’s life now including two ‘normal jobs’

Twelve years on since barrelling onto our screens as EastEnders heartthrob Tyler Moon, the star behind the Walford hunk, Tony Discipline has revealed to fans that his life now couldn’t be more different.

Many longtime fans of the BBC soap will no doubt remember Tony for his portrayal of cheeky Tyler Moon back in 2011, a role which he held for two years before moving onto pastures new.

During his short tenure on the soap, Tony quickly captured the hearts of fans across the country, with many even still recognising him today. But what exactly is Tony up to these days?

EastEnders career

As a staple of the EastEnders cast, Tony’s character Tyler was involved in a number of high-profile storylines, including being caught up in an on-off romance with Whitney Dean and embarking on a steamy affair with Lucy Beale.

Romantic entanglements aside, Tyler was also very nearly killed in the soap, when his half brother Michael pushed him to do an unlicensed boxing match, with an opponent that had even previously killed a man.

In harrowing scenes, fans at home were left on the edges of their seats as Tyler won the fight, only to suffer a seizure – something which prompted him to undergo life saving surgery before fleeing the square with his errant brother.

Since his departure, many fans had been hoping for Tony to return to the soap and reprise his role, but it has since been revealed that the star has stepped away from acting in recent years to pursue two completely different career avenues instead.

New career path

Since stepping away from acting, Tony has gone on to pursue two very different careers indeed, with one even seeing him risk his life on a daily basis to help others in need.

Tony’s main job these days is as a firefighter for the London Fire Brigade, a job which has seen him tackle fires in a block of flats, at a bakery and a waste disposal plant during his years on the job.

Despite the big leap to such a rewarding and dangerous career, Tony couldn’t help but admit that even while putting out fires, fans couldn’t help but recall his stint on the soap.

He toldThe Sun: “I was once walking back to the fire truck and someone walked past and said, “Oh my god what are you filming?” I said, “No, I'm a firefighter” and he said: “No, what is it? What show's it for?”.

In addition to his adrenaline fuelled day job, Tony has also embarked on a second career as a barman, as he also runs a small portable bar, called The Tipsy Trailer, which frequently serves beverages at everything from weddings to festivals and awards shows.

Both careers are a far cry from his time on the soap, but even further still from his previous job as a fish monger, which he held before getting his big break on EastEnders.

Personal life

Away from his work as a firefighter and bartender, Tony is the proud father to his one year old daughter Penelope, who frequently appears on his social media feeds.

Although the adorable little one’s mother still remains a mystery, it’s clear to see that Tony is a very hands on dad, with the doting father having wasted no time in making sure his daughter gets to enjoy a wealth of exciting days out, including a recent trip to a farm!

Prior to his settled family life, Tony dated midwife Becky Mulvaney, and was even romantically linked to fellow Eastenders co-star Jacqueline Jossa between 2011 and 2013.
