ICONIC Hollywood legend Betty White passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021.

The Golden Girls actress was just a few weeks shy of her 100th birthday, which would have been January 17.

Did Betty White have children?

Betty White did not have biological children of her own, though she did gain three stepchildren through her third marriage.

In 1963, the actress married her third husband, Allen Ludden, but he passed away in 1981 from cancer.

Betty has three stepchildren from her marriage to Ludden: David, Sarah, and Martha.

While speaking with CBS in 2012, Betty gave details regarding her feelings on motherhood.

She told CBS: "No, I've never regretted it. I'm so compulsive about stuff, I know if I had ever gotten pregnant, of course, that would have been my whole focus."

She concluded: "But I didn’t choose to have children because I’m focused on my career. And I just don’t think as compulsive as I am, that I could manage both."

Throughout her lifetime, Betty White was married a total of three times.

The timeless actress married her first husband, Dick Barker in 1945 but they divorced that same year.

In 1947, Betty married Lane Allen but the pair divorced in 1949.

In 1963, she married Allen Ludden and the two remained married until his death in 1981.

What did Betty White say about her marriages?

In a CBS interview with Katie Couric, Betty White discussed how she felt about her marriage to Allen Ludden.

The funny lady said: "When you've had the best, who needs the rest? It was special. It was very special."

The late Betty continued: "But that doesn't keep you from having fun with somebody and going out and having dates. And Robert Redford never calls."

She went on to reflect: "You go out with a couple, let's say. And all of the sudden you see one or the other reach over and, or just, you know, something like that. Those are the things I miss."
