Dad’s spicy roast potato recipe leaves foodies drooling as video seen 300k times

An amateur chef’s delicious-looking masala roasted potatoes has left foodies across TikTok in awe.

TikTok user @babacooks, who describes himself as “just a dad sharing quick and simple recipes my kids love”, shared the recipe earlier this year and his video has been seen a staggering 300,000 times.

To start, he chops two large potatoes into chunks before mixing four minced garlic cloves with four tablespoons of olive oil.

Baba then pops in the tatties and mixes them in the garlic-infused oil.

He seasons the potatoes with his homemade masala dust (the ingredients of which can be found below).

Unlike conventional roast potato dishes, the cook chooses not to boil the potatoes before placing them in the oven at 180C for 45 minutes.

They come out looking perfectly crispy with a spicy orange tinge thanks to the masala dust.

“I tries this recipe and me and my family loved it thank you so much,” one wrote.

Another commented: “They look really good.”

A third added: “Wow my taste buds have just exploded. Definitely going to try this tomorrow.”

Here are all the ingredients you need to make Baba’s delicious masala roasted potatoes.

General ingredients

  • 4 tbs olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tbs masala dust
  • 1/2 tbs salt
  • 2 large potatoes

Masala dust

  • 1 tbs paprika
  • 3/4 tbs dry coriander leaves
  • 1 tbs garlic powder
  • 1/2 tbs salt
  • 1 tbs onion salt

It is not the only roast potato recipe to have proven hugely popular online in recent weeks.

Jim Chapman previously told Daily Star that margarine is a key ingredient to make spuds perfectly crispy.

Meanwhile, Nigella Lawson revealed a three-step method using hot oil to get the “perfect” roasties.
