In a clip posted to the social media sharing site on August 13, viewers can watch a montage of the dog diving in several lakes and rivers. The footage, uploaded by user named @theschnoutsquad, follows the current TikTok trend of using a soundbite from the American comedy film Legally Blonde.
A close up of the cute pooch is first shown with the voice of Reese Witherspoon’s character Elle Woods playing in the background, who asks her boyfriend: “So you’re breaking up with me because I’m too, blonde?”
Viewers then see some text appear that replaces Witherspoon’s famous line “I’m too blonde” for “I dive for rocks.”
The clip then cuts to four-legged rock lover bobbing around and diving in several locations grabbing large stones with their mouth.
While the humorous scenes unfold, the song “Heart of Glass” by Blondie plays while the dog proudly shows off what they have retrieved to their owner.
Accompanying the TikTok video, which can be watched here, the caption reads: “But diving for rocks is the best! #goldenretriever #rockslayer #swimmer.”
Since uploading, the cute canine has become a viral hit with other users, with more than 5.5 million people having seen the footage and gained over 1.4 million likes.
Thousands of people quickly left their reactions in the comments section with one user, Natasha Robichaud, said: “Mam that’s not a dog that is a very fluffy otter.”
Jmondrezejewski was also left impressed, saying: “I’ve never seen a dog diving in my life!”
Lucy questioned: “Do dogs know not to breathe underwater? Or is it something learn through trial and error cause I can’t imagine a dog holding his breath.”
To this, owner theschnoutsquad responded: “He actually blows bubbles underwater and can hold his breath for up to a minute.”
And to prove that this is not just a phase their Golden Retriever is currently going through, several other videos have been added to the account showing of the pet fishing for rocks.
