Brutal injuries of woman, 25, after bag was snatched in Bali tourist hotspot

A woman living in Bali is recovering from critical head injuries in hospital, after a horrific bag snatching incident.

Emma Bell, from Byron Bay in Australia, was walking aloe in the tourist hotspot Canggu last week when her bag was snatched by a passing motorcyclist.

Her head hit the ground first and she was dragged several metres along the concrete before falling unconcious.

The 25-year-old had only recently moved to the area.

A gofundme page set up by one of Emma's friends, Emi Thompson, to cover her escalating medical bills, said Emma was now in intensive care in the Royal Perth Hospital.

She underwent emergency surgery upon her arrival back in Perth , having sustained a fractured skull and blood on the brain in the incident.

She would need another costly surgery over the course of her recovery, the page read.

"She has been doing better than we hoped thanks to the wonderful work of the medical staff in Perth; however her injuries are extensive and she has a long road yet."

Emi said her friend was "extremely grateful" for the support she had received, but could not remember much from the incident, Yahoo News reported.

According to Nine News reports, Emma was now recovering in hospital in a serious, but stable condition,

She had recently moved to Bali after receiving sponsorship to take up a hairdressing job at a salon.

Emi described her friend as "one of the most beautiful souls" she knew.

"She would give all she could if it was someone she knew that was in great need of help."

"We just want her to recover the best she can, so she can be healthy again."

Emma's gofundme page has been closed after reaching AUD$16,611 (£8,630)
