It was made famous by The Beatles song ‘Hey Jude’ that sold eight million copies and is now 14th on the UK's most popular boys' names list.

The name Jude is proving popular with celebs, too, as a host of reality TV stars have chosen the unique name for their new baby boys.

Following the release of the song ‘Hey Jude’, the name Jude rocketed from position #885 to #668 on name popularity lists for new babies in the US and has proven to be a popular name to this day.

The name Jude is both a boy's name and a girl's name of Greek origin meaning "praised". It’s popular throughout the world, but is particularly sought-after in the UK, where it holds the spot as 14th most popular name for baby boys, according to BabyCentre.co.uk.

Jude also has religious significance for people of the Catholic faith, with many choosing the name to honour one of the twelve apostles, St. Jude.

Old-fashioned names are making a comeback across the board, with Amelia, Arthur, Noah, Archie, Jacob and Violet all climbing the ranks.

Charlotte Dawson

Charlotte Dawson, 30, daughter of English comedian Les Dawson, is the latest in a long line of stars to choose the name Jude for her new baby boy.

Cradling her newborn son in her hospital bed, revealed: “He’s here… Jude Dawson Sarsfield came into the world on the 30th July at 02:13am weighing 8lb 8oz, he made his speedy entrance in an hour of us getting to hospital..

“I was adamant for a section but his head came out on the theatre table with no chuffin pain relief guys !!! everybody did warn me saying your second baby flies out… hahahaha I wish I did listen.”

Tiffany Watson

Tiffany, 29, welcomed her son into the world on 21 June, and she announced his birth a day later, by sharing a snap of herself and her husband, Cameron McGeehan, as they gazed down lovingly at their little boy.

She sweetly captioned the post: "Jude Maximus McGeehan born 21/06/23. We love you so much" with a heart emoji.

Since then, Tiffany has shared plenty of updates of their life as a family of three, along with their gorgeous Golden Retriever dog.

Scarlett Moffatt

Scarlett Moffat’s little boy Jude Xavier was born early at just 35 weeks old.

Despite surprising the Gogglebox star and arriving before his due date, Scarlett has shared updates on her Instagram celebrating everything from Jude's first week to attending his first wedding.

Posting with her family of three at her friend's big day, the 32 year old commented: "Our first wedding with mammy and daddy, you make every day, event, moment just magical Jude. Big congrats to @paigemyckle & @katiekiller1 we love you all lots."


Montana Brown

Love Island star Montana Brown, 27, welcomed her first child with fiancé Mark in June, naming him Jude Isaiah O'Connor.

Opening up to her 1.2 million followers on Instagram, she wrote: "Lots of people asking about Jude's middle name.

"He is named after my grandad Isaiah, who was a pretty spectacular activist at the time of the apartheid."
