Meghan Markle news: Duchess SLAMMED by Nelson Mandela's family for comparing Prince Harry wedding to apartheid struggle | The Sun

THE grandson of Nelson Mandela has slammed Meghan Markle for sensationally comparing herself to the freedom fighter.

The Duchess of Sussex made the connection during her tell-all interview with American publication The Cut.

Meghan said a cast member from South Africa told her they had celebrated when she tied the knot with Prince Harry.

She revealed: “He said, ‘I just need you to know: When you married into this family, we rejoiced in the streets the same we did when Mandela was freed from prison.’ ”

But now, Mandela's grandson, Zwelivelile 'Mandla' Mandela, has slammed the comment, calling it "surprising."

Speaking to MailOnline, he said:  "Madiba's celebration was based on overcoming 350 years of colonialism with 60 years of a brutal apartheid regime in South Africa.

"So it cannot be equated to as the same."

Could Meghan release a bombshell memoir?

In a tell-all interview with American magazine The Cut, the Duchess of Sussex admitted to writing a daily journal while she was a working royal.

This journal seemed lost in their move to the US, but Meghan has now revealed she found it in Frogmore Cottage, Windsor, this summer.

Meghan said: “You go back and you open drawers and you’re like, Oh my gosh. This is what I was writing in my journal there?”

The Sun has now exclusively reported that the Duchess could be producing a bombshell 'tell-all memoir' after she admitted she had not signed a non-disclosure agreement with the Royal Family.

Her journal could cover her marriage to Prince Harry, the row with Prince William and Kate Middleton and Megxit — which was revealed by The Sun in early 2020.

Meghan hopes little girls will aim for more than to marry a prince

Talking to The cut for their fall edition, Meghan spoke about aspirations for little girls who see her as a ‘real life princess’.

In the interview, Markle talked about hoping children aim for more than marring into status.

She talked about their power within: “It’s important to be thoughtful about it because—even with the Oprah interview, I was conscious of the fact that there are little girls that I meet and they’re just like, “Oh my God, it’s a real-life princess.”

“I just look at all of them and think, “You have the power within you to create a life greater than any fairy tale you’ve ever read.” I don’t mean that in terms of ‘You could marry a prince one day.’ I mean you can find love. You can find happiness.

“You can be up against what could feel like the greatest obstacle and then you can find happiness again.”

Diana dreamed of LA, friend claims

A close friend of the late Princess Diana has claimed she dreamed of moving to the United States prior to her death.

Stewart Pearce, who was Diana’s close friend and voice coach, spoke exclusively to the Sun ahead of the 25th anniversary of her death.

“Diana was also very fascinated by the nature of some of the conversations with creative moguls in Los Angeles and the USA,” Pearce said.

“She wanted to really move into use of film and video, because video was becoming extraordinarily successful in terms of broadcasting projects and the significant seas around the ethos around the ways we move forward.”

“She was having fun for the first time in her life, she had matured into a level of sensuality and sexuality that all women can relate to where they feel held, trusted, considered intelligent, and there is faith in their opinions and creativities.

“In other words, Diana felt 99.9 percent supported by Dodi.”

“She was really charged with a level of verve, brio, vitality and dynamic force she was excited by as one often is when one has gone through finishing a major relationship that needs to come to a close,” Pearce told The Sun.

Why does Prince Harry fly privately, despite being an advocate for the environment?

He told the UN general assembly that climate change is “wreaking havoc on our planet.”

Prince Harry and Meghan have been criticised countless times for taking their £6.5 million private jet across the pond to the UK.

They never seem to fly commercially, even though private jets are an extremely lavish mode of transport.

Perhaps they have security concerns, and prefer to keep their movements very secretive.

Prince Charles is thoughtful to his mother

The heir to the throne reportedly makes daily visits to his ailing mother.

The Queen turned 96 earlier this year and had to miss a number of her events due to reduce mobility.

It’s since been reported that though the Queen is moving around less more family are going to her, including her youngest, Prince Edward, and her eldest, Prince Charles.

The 73-year-old heir to the throne has been described as thoughtful by royal commentator Ingrid Seward: “It’s highly unusual for Prince Charles to make these kinds of impromptu visits to see his mother.

“But Charles is a very thoughtful person — and who else can she rely on now Prince Philip has gone?

“Everyone thinks they normally see each other all the time, but they don’t.”

Meghan's latest interview should be 'final straw', commentator claims

Royal commentator Dan Wootton has suggested Prince William and his father Charles should board a flight to California today to put a stop to Harry and Meghan's comments.

He told the MailOnline:"That’s why Prince Charles and William, ideally with peacemaker Kate in tow, should board a plane to California.

"I know there’s a million reasons why such an idea would be dismissed as preposterous and impossible, especially given the chance of getting through to Harry seems close to nil – he’s co-pilot of this kamikaze mission, after all."

'When you married into this family, we rejoiced in the streets'

Meghan has spoken out about her own experiences with racism in the past and claimed a member of the Firm made a comment about Archie's skin colour before he was born – and "what that would mean or look like" for the royals.

During her interview with The Cut, she recalled one moment when she attended The Lion King in London’s West End in 2019, and a cast member from South Africa told her they had celebrated when she tied the knot with Prince Harry.

She revealed: “He said, ‘I just need you to know: When you married into this family, we rejoiced in the streets the same we did when Mandela was freed from prison.’ ”

      Meghan blasted over n-word claim

Meghan Markle has been blasted after apparently suggesting the British press called her children the n-word.

The Duchess of Sussex appeared to make the "unsubstantiated" claim in a toe-curling interview discussing her life with Harry and their kids beyond the Royal Family.

Meghan told The Cut's Allison Davis she resented allowing pictures of Archie, three, and Lilibet, one, to be circulated to the media.

The article then goes on to imply her reasoning is down to racist language – appearing to suggest the press had used the n-word to refer to her children.

Meghan explained: "There’s literally a structure by which if you want to release photos of your child, as a member of the family, you first have to give them to the Royal Rota.

“Why would I give the very people that are calling my children the n-word a photo of my child before I can share it with the people that love my child?"

It's unclear who Meghan was referring to when she said "people".

Royal experts were quick to question Meghan's inference, with Royal Editor Ingrid Seward saying: "She appears to make an unsubstantiated claim that the British press used the n-word to describe her children.

"An interviewer worth her salt would have fact checked that and it is something which never happened."

      Cringe

Here are five of the most cringeworthy moments from Meghan’s toe-curling interview.

      1. They bought the Montecito mansion after spotting two palm trees joined together. Harry said, “My love, it’s us”. When Archie goes past them he says “Hi, Momma. Hi, Papa.”
      2. Meghan compared her and Harry to salt and pepper because they “always move together”.
      3. When Meghan and Archie get back from nursery, Harry comes out to meet them and starts dancing to his own beatboxing, with Meghan joining in.
      4. Meghan referred to her and Harry’s business as a “start-up”, despite their multimillion Netflix and Spotify deals.
      5. The piece makes a point of revealing handy Harry once fixed pal Victoria Jackson’s sprinkler.

Meghan Markle says Prince Harry ‘lost his dad’ over dramatic feud

PRINCE Harry “lost his dad” over his dramatic feud with the Royal Family, Meghan Markle has claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex, 41, suggested it is Harry’s decision to stay apart from the Royal Family in a bombshell interview published today.

But she said it “doesn’t have to be the same” for Harry as it is for her and her father.

Meghan became estranged from her dad Thomas Markle after he leaked a letter to The Mail on Sunday, begging him to stop speaking to reporters.
