I was catfished by ‘an ugly man’ – he got mad I didn’t want to spend the day with him but what he did after was worse

A CASUAL poolside date turned into a race to escape when one woman's "ugly" date turned out to be a catfish – and chased after her when she realized she'd been tricked and tried to leave.

The woman, whose identity The Sun has chosen to protect, recorded a video of the man following her through the hotel where they'd held their first meeting at a rooftop pool.

When they met in person, he didn't look anything like his online photos, leading the woman to feel she was "catfished by an ugly man."

She didn't confront him about the mismatch between his photos and his real face.

"I didn’t want him to get aggressive," she explained.

Instead, she just decided to leave the date, but when he began to chase her down the hotel hallway she started recording a video, which she later posted to TikTok.

At the start of the video, just the hallway and the woman's sandaled feet were visible in the frame and viewers could hear the sound of the man in pursuit.

When the elevator arrived, and the woman stepped inside to try and leave, her unwelcome date followed her.

She tried to gently rebuff the man, telling him that she didn't need him to be in the elevator with her.

"You don't have to come down here," the woman said. "Can I not go if I want to go?"

"I just wanted to hang out with you a little bit," he said. "You came all the way down here."

After reaching a lower floor in the hotel, she had to cross an elevator bay to get to the ground floor – and the man stayed on her tail.

Repeatedly, he asked her to explain her decision. "Why do you want to leave?" he asked.

"Because I want to, is that not good enough reason?" the woman responded.

"Not really, not if you're going to be a mature adult that builds positive relationships," he responded with a huff.

When the elevator doors opened for a second time, the hotel's driveway was visible and the woman quickly walked across the lobby to reach it.

Unfortunately, she claimed her nightmare didn't end when she finally got outside.

In the final caption of the video, she claimed the man proceeded to follow her out and harass her by the Uber she called to escape.

Since the video was posted, the user has posted other content to let followers know she made it safely home.

Some viewers said the footage made them nervous and uncomfortable.

"I would NOT have stepped into an elevator alone with him," said one woman in the comments.
