I duped a fancy £6k front door for just £50 – all you need is some paint and a £7.50 B&M buy | The Sun

Your home’s front door is one of the most important features to get looking perfect – given that it’s the first thing people see, it gives an immediate impression of what’s inside.

Property experts even suggest that the shade you pick can impact your house's value by thousands, with some in-your-face colours knocking heaps off how much you can expect to fetch.

With that in mind, one savvy homeowner has shared how she managed to dupe a fancy £6k front door with just a £50 budget.

Louise and James are canny DIYers who are sharing their renovation journey on their Instagram and TikTok accounts, both with the handle @The_Little_Pink_Nest.

And in a recent video which racked up 32k views, they showed off their stunning new front door that they achieved for just £50.

To begin, Louise filmed herself sanding and painting the current tired oak front door and porch with multiple layers of thick black paint.

The crafty whizz appears to be using Frenchic’s Al Fresco paint, perhaps in the shade Blackjack, a large tin of which costs £21.95.

After coating the surrounding window frames with the same hue, Louise then whipped out a few rolls of adhesive reeded glass.

You can pick up similar self-adhesive window film from Amazon for £7.50 or Amazon for around a tenner.

The clever DIYer then recorded herself cutting rolls of the tape to fit between the window panes, carefully placing it in neat rows.

She then showed off the final result: a gorgeous, modern-looking front porch that’s truly unrecognisable from the grubby old door at the beginning of the video.

“Omg,” Louise wrote in the caption of the clip, “obsessed with our door makeover.”

And viewers were equally impressed, taking to the comments to share the love for the nifty DIY job.

“Looks epic!” one fan gushed.

“Girl that is so good,” another added with an applause emoji.

“Can’t believe the difference it’s made!” a third wrote.

The canny couple aren’t the only ones who’ve used the cheap adhesive to achieve a remarkable home makeover.

One DIY fan managed to revamp their entire kitchen using a few rolls of £10 self-adhesive wall tiles, brightening up the space and making it look miles bigger.
