Strictly Come Dancing pro Giovanni Pernice and his partner Rose Ayling-Ellis were forced to take a break from training today amid a heavy downpour of rain. The professional dancer shared an update from the rehearsal room as the rain lashed down.

Rose, who is best known for playing Frankie Lewis in EastEnders, filmed the unexpected weather interruption on her phone, while Giovanni explained why it had stopped play.

“Wow the rain is mad!” the actress captioned the footage, which she shared with her 113,000 followers.

Giovanni could be heard calling her name in the background.

“@pernicegiovann1 shouting in the background, ‘Rose!'” she added.

Giovanni spoke to fans via an upload on his own account to share a bit more information.

Shouting over the racket, he said: “Well the noise of the rain really doesn’t help because Rose can’t hear me.

“Rose. Rose. Rose…” he was then heard calling out.

The BBC star, who is making history as the first deaf contest to take part in the show, wears a hearing aid to pick up some of the music while learning to dance.

The sound of the loud rain could have drowned out other noises.

“Can you hear me? You OK?” (sic) Giovanni went on to ask the 26-year-old.

Rose gave Giovanni a thumbs up sign, to let him know she was OK.

“Good. Great,” he exclaimed.

Before taking part in Strictly, Rose said she would be relying on body language, vibrations and counting to learn and perform her routines each week.

She told BBC News: “I have a hearing aid, so I pick up some of the music and I can hear the beat.

“I can hear someone singing, but I can’t identify exact words. I also feel the vibrations.

“I will be focusing on reading my partner’s body language plus counting in my head, which will help me with timing. So for me it’s a combination of everything.”

Last week, it was revealed that Giovanni, 31, was learning sign language to communicate better with Rose.

During Sunday night’s results show, the Italian dancer showed host Claudia Winkleman what he’d learnt so far.

Rose reeled off a list of words at a quick pace to test him such as: “commitment, focus, quick, slow, improvement, and shockingly horrible.”

“…And very rarely, ‘well done’,” she added as the trio laughed.
