What Kristen Doute Has Been Doing Since Her Vanderpump Rules Firing

Kristen Doute has had a difficult road on Vanderpump Rules, the show that made the former waitress and her friends massive stars. From being loved up with SUR’s hottest bartender (by her admission), Tom Sandoval, to being labeled a cheater and a liar after betraying BFF Stassi Schroeder by hooking up with her ex-boyfriend, Jax Taylor, becoming obsessed with Sandoval’s relationship with Ariana Madix, hooking up with DJ James Kennedy to spite him, and finally finding love only for that relationship to fall apart too, Doute has genuinely been through it all.

Capping off her journey with arguably the most shocking development yet, Doute was fired from Vanderpump Rules alongside Schroeder and two other cast-members after prior racist behavior came to light. It was a bizarrely fitting end for “Crazy Kristen.” But, now, the reality TV villain is looking to rewrite the script.

Kristen Doute is making amends for her actions

As The Blast reports, hot on the heels of her firing, Doute got back on Cameo with a view to donating a portion of her profits to the ACLU, in a bid to right some of her previous wrongs. She’s back in the Vanderpump Rules fold too, supporting Schroeder and former cast-mate Brittany Cartwright through their pregnancies and hanging with Katie Maloney-Schwartz, too. She’s also settling down with boyfriend Alex Menache, who defended Doute from haters online. During an appearance on the Hollywood Raw podcast, the former reality star took full responsibility for her actions and promised to do better.

However, Doute also criticized Bravo, arguing, “It would have been a lot smarter for them to film about this. I think that this was a perfectly wide-open door for Bravo to take the initiative and have this conversation.” Regardless, the Vanderpump Rules alum acknowledged, “I think the biggest thing that I’ve learned is that I have so much to learn,” (via USA Today).

The former Vanderpump Rules star is sharing her truth

In an effort to re-write the narrative, Doute channeled her experiences, good and bad, into a book entitled He’s Making You Crazy: How to Get the Guy, Get Even, and Get Over It. Co-written with Michele Alexander, who penned How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days, it functions as a self-help tome and also a mini memoir (though, according to Reality Blurb, Sandoval claims Doute’s recollection of their relationship is wildly inaccurate). The former reality star hopes that, by being brutally honest, fans and haters alike might see her in a new light.

As she admitted to the Washington Post, “I wanted to admit all of my wrongdoings… I understand that it was difficult, I understand that I was judging people’s relationships… I just didn’t know it at the time.” Although it was a difficult process, Doute ultimately found it cathartic, acknowledging the power of, “Unpacking all these feelings and really digging super deep into the ‘why’ of everything.” Who needs Bravo when you can write your own story?
