Olly Murs, 36, and his model girlfriend Amelia Tank, 27, have been keeping fans entertained with their hilarious pranks throughout lockdown as they isolate together at the singer’s Essex mansion. But as the tricks became more and more brutal, in the end they had a sit down and decided to call it a day on the practical jokes before someone got hurt.

In the end we did stop and say, hang on, things are getting out of hand

Sharing the hilarious videos to their social channels, the pair went viral on more than one occasion, including when Olly blasted Amelia with an air horn after she woke him up by smacking him across the face, she Sellotaped his phone to his head after The Voice coach threw her in the pool by her hair, and Olly got egg on his face before soaking her with a giant water gun in retaliation.

But what started out as cheeky high-jinks, started to become a little more savage.

“At home we were a bit bored and I posted a couple of videos having a bit of a laugh,” Olly said in a recent interview.

“We didn’t realise the reaction we were going to get. They went viral so we thought we should do some more.”

He continued: “We just had fun, lots of people were messaging me, celebrities, newspapers, TV shows – everyone was talking about them.

“But in the end we did stop and say, hang on, things are getting out of hand.”

Olly noted that it wouldn’t have been wise for one of them to get injured and then have to go to hospital under the circumstances.

“Me and Amelia sat down to talk about it and said, ‘Someone’s going to get hurt. The world’s going through a pandemic, I don’t think one of us wants to be in hospital because we’ve broken our arm or leg because of a prank,'” he shrugged.

The ITV star admitted they filmed many more stunts that didn’t make the cut because they either didn’t work or weren’t funny enough, and there came a point where they both thought it was time to stop before someone got hurt.

But Olly admitted it was fun while it lasted.

“It got rid of the boredom,” he explained.

“I didn’t want to sing live sessions on Instagram like other singers were doing, that’s not the type of artist I am.

“I’m an entertainer not a performer, and that was my way of entertaining my fans.”

The pair began dating back in 2019 and he asked her to move in with him at the beginning of last year.

And what a year to really test the strengths of their relationship, with Olly insisting they are now both “stronger than ever”.

He recalled: “I’d asked her to move in before lockdown and that kind of saved me. It would have been weirder for us if we’d been pushed into it by the pandemic. We’re happy and life’s great!”

Olly explained that Amelia, who lifts weights every morning, has got him back into training again, too.

“Our first date was at the gym and we have a common interest in training. In lockdown we made our own little room with some weights, it’s pretty basic but we’re doing what we can to keep fit and keep our minds active,” he said.

“Her exercises have helped me. If I’d continued doing what I was doing I’d have become really depressed.”

The former X Factor star gushed over his beloved as he told The Mirror he “loves being around her”, even dropping hint about starting a family in the future.

“I want to have a family. Every birthday I think, ‘I’m not getting any younger, and I’d like to be a young, fit dad’,” he smiled.

“Amelia and I talk about it, and we’re both in the same place. Could it happen soon? Let’s see!”
