Michelle Keegan has revealed that living apart from husband Mark Wright was a “positive” thing for their marriage.

Michelle, 33, who has been working on her £1.3m 'dream' home with Mark, opened up about their long-distance relationship after previously working in different countries for almost two years – but admitted she didn’t see it as a bad thing.

The couple were forced apart when Mark, 34, took a presenting job in the US on showbiz channel Extra in 2017. Michelle was also filming BBC's Our Girl, where she was based in Southeast Asia, and would often fly to LA to visit husband Mark.

“People, especially the media at the time, were turning it into a negative that I was working away and Mark was working in LA,” Michelle told Irish comedian Mairead Doyle on her podcast, Craic On.

“We were both seeing the positive side to it. We were both doing what we love to do and then coming together in an amazing place because we could. For some reason, the media thought it was a negative.”

The actress went on to say that while they both loved the LA lifestyle, they felt homesick.

“Mark was living in LA full time for a year and a half and I was going back and forward. I was out there for a couple of months at a time,” she explained.

“It was actually really nice. I feel like we’ve done that, we’ve ticked it off our list to live out there, we’ve done it, we’ve lived the LA life and it was brilliant.

“But we both missed home. It was more Mark’s decision really because obviously he was the one working out there.

"I knew he was always going to be like that anyway because it’s so far away from home.

"It’s not like a couple of hours on a plane. It’s so far. He’s too family-oriented to be away from his family for that amount of time.”

She added: “He was there for a year and a half. But he had to do it.

"Mark is very like that. If he’s got something in his head, he has to do it.

"I think he was getting homesick the first month actually, but I think he just stuck with it because he had to. It was a big move for him to do.”

Former TOWIE star Mark left his job in LA in 2019 to move back home and be with Michelle.
