Kate Middleton and Prince William are said to be keen to move away from the chaos of London life after royal experts revealed they had set their sights on Windsor.

The couple are currently based at Kensington Palace and Anmer Hall in Norfolk but are eyeing up a move to Windsor to be closer to the Queen and enjoy a more secluded day to day life.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl tells OK!: "Neither William or Kate have ever been London people and have never enjoyed the chaos of the city. Whilst their home at Kensington Palace is highly secure, they have often felt overlooked and that they lacked privacy. The older their children get, the more apparent this has become.

"They love being at Anmer but they need a base that is close to the capital so they can easily return for public engagements and events. Windsor seems like the ideal situation.

"The castle is huge in itself and is the Queen’s permanent residence now but there are other housing options for them. Everything is on the table and up for the discussion.”

Another factor in their decision process is the time consuming school runs for their children. Prince George, eight, and Princess Charlotte, six, both attend the private primary school Thomas’s Battersea based in South West London, whilst Prince Louis, three, recently started at The Willcocks Nursery School in South Kensington.

“Both William and Kate are very hands on with the school runs,” Katie adds. “Every morning and afternoon they try to do it themselves if they can.

"And whilst it may seem like a short drive, they have both found traffic to be a huge factor. Sometimes it can take an hour to get the kids to school and make their way back and that’s a long time out of their days.”

The school term is soon to start again and like all mums, Kate will also be preparing to send her children off to school with fresh new uniforms.

Both Prince George and Charlotte have to wear the compulsory blue and red uniform with the school’s logo which features a unicorn reading a book and even a logo’d school bag only available at Perry Uniform.

In 2018, Kate, 39, was spotted shopping for school shoes at Peter Jones in Sloane Square. But onlookers claimed she forgot to pack a pair of socks for the kids to try the shoes on with and had to call one of her employees to nip home to grab some, she borrowed a pair from the store.
