Strictly Come Dancing star Katya Jones regularly documents her work and home life on social media, and this weekend was no different. The professional dancer, who has been a part of the BBC One ballroom dancing competition since 2016, informed her Instagram followers that she was up at 4.30 this morning for the first day of training for the 2021 series.
Ahead of her early morning wake-up call, an excited Katya, who remained tight-lipped on the identity of her new partner, packed her bag in preparation for the day.
The 32-year-old filmed herself putting objects into her bag for her time in the training room and shared it online.
The BBC star went on to reveal that she didn’t trust the celebrity to remember a pair of dancing shoes, so she packed a spare pair of them just in case.
Katya, who was partnered with boxer Nicola Adams last year, also reeled off a very unusual list of items to aid the novice dancer.
The former world champion captioned the footage to explain things, as she placed the items into her bag.
“A ball, bands, a torture device, ice packs, Berocca, Deep Heat,” the list began.
“A roller, knee pads, skipping rope, towels…” she continued, in view of her 178,000 followers.
Katya then placed two pairs of shiny dance footwear into the bag.
“My shoes, partner’s shoes – I don’t trust him,” she remarked, before joking: “Probably forgot something.”
“Thanks to @nicolaadams for my training bag! Regarding the torture device – if you know, you know…,” she intriguingly added.
Strictly Come Dancing viewers will see the cast of the 2021 series meet their partners for the first time on Saturday during the launch show.
In an earlier post, Katya told fans that the launch episode had already been filmed.

“My smile is this big after the last night! Launch show is recorded for you!
“I can’t wait to start training- the hardest, yet the best, most important part of the whole thing! #strictly #strictlycomedancing #dancecostume #smile #sunday,” she added.
Traditionally, the first episode usually includes a group dance involving the pro dancers and the celebrity contestants.
The cast of 2021 features Greg Wise, Katie McGlynn, Dan Walker, AJ Odudu, Rhys Stephenson, Tilly Ramsay, Tom Fletcher, Judi Love, Adam Peaty, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Robert Webb, John Whaite, Nina Wadia, Ugo Monye and Sara Davies.
Katya won the competition back in 2017 with Holby City star Joe McFadden.
Last year, she made history as one half of the first same sex pairing in Strictly history.
This year, Steph’s Packed Lunch star John Whaite will dance in the first male same sex paring.
Strictly Come Dancing 2021 will kick off on Saturday at 7.45pm on BBC One.
