Even though Budweiser may be sitting out of this year’s Super Bowl, the iconic Clydesdale horses are still making an appearance – in a Sam Adams’ commercial!
The tongue-in-cheek ad opens with a few shots of the horses waiting on a cobblestone street until someone decides to unhitch them from their carriage, sending them on a rampage. It’s then revealed that the person who set them free was “Your Cousin from Boston,” a character who has appeared in multiple Sam Adams ad campaigns.
Budweiser announced recently that they would be using the marketing funds that would have been put towards a 2021 Super Bowl commercial to raise COVID-19 vaccine awareness and access.
Vice president of marketing Monica Rustgi said in a statement, “Like everyone else, we are eager to get people back together, reopen restaurants and bars, and be able to gather to cheers with friends and family. To do this, and to bring consumers back into neighborhood bars and restaurants that were hit exceptionally hard by the pandemic, we’re stepping in to support critical awareness of the COVID-19 vaccine.”
