Gorka Marquez made a joke about his father duties to their two-year-old daughter Mia, as he and partner Gemma Atkinson, 36, spend time apart this week. The Strictly Come Dancing star took to his Instagram page to share a picture of the pair smiling for the camera alongside an emotional caption.
He wrote: “Wishing all the luck to my @glouiseatkinson on her day 1 of 6 trekking the Scottish highlands with a bunch of strong and inspiring woman to raise money for Breast Cancer @coppafeelpeople.
“I know your hard work will pay off and u will smash it. Ps: don’t worry I am in good hands Mia is taking care of me.”(sic)
Many of the dancer’s 652,000 followers flocked to his post to comment.
Dianne Buswell wrote: “Go on Gem.”
Actor Anthony Quinlan commented: “Good luck Gem.”
Another penned: “That explains why Gemma was teaching Mia to use the washing machine the other day.
“So she can supervise you doing it.”
Gemma’s time away comes before Gorka returns to the dance floor for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The 31-year-old’s celebrity dance partner will be revealed to viewers on the launch show this Saturday.
Gorka gave fans an insight into training for the new series on his Instagram page last week.
The dancer was seen flashing his abs as he posed alongside his fellow male dancers.
He wrote: “STRICTLY 21 Here We Go! Are you ready? @bbcstrictly.”

Last year, Gorka was forced to spend time apart from Gemma, due to social distancing rules on the show.
In order for the competition to return during the coronavirus pandemic, pros and celebrities had to form a bubble together.
This meant that some were kept apart from their families and the cast were not allowed to mingle together.
Executive producer Sarah James recently revealed that social distancing measures will stay in place this year to protect the team.
She said: “We will keep everybody distanced from each other so you won’t see them all up in Claudia’s area.
“They will be sitting in the audience like last year on their little tables which I think worked really nicely.
“Obviously keeping everybody safe and keeping the show going is our priority.”
Competing for the Glitterball trophy this series are; Ugo Monye, Judi Love, Adam Peaty, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Nina Wadia, Greg Wise Tilly Ramsay, Dan Walker, Katie McGlynn, John Whaite, AJ Odudu, Robert Webb, Tom Fletcher, Rhys Stephenson and Sara Davies.
