Coronation Street icon Linda Baldwin actress unrecognisable after quitting fame

Actress Jacqueline Chadwick was a familiar face for many in the late 1990s, appearing on both Coronation Street and Emmerdale.

However, the actress fell out of love with fame and went on to start a new life away from the spotlight.

Jacqueline is perhaps most famous for her role as Linda Sykes in Coronation Street, who was the wife of villainous factory owner Mike Baldwin.

Despite winning a National Television Award and being pivotal to several major storylines, she left the soap in 2001.

The Corrie role was Jacqueline's second huge soap job, as the actress also played Tina Dingle for three years in another ITV soap, Emmerdale.

Neither the Dales nor the Cobbles could keep Jacqueline though, who went on to begin a new life in Canada.

The former Corrie star now looks unrecognisable, switching her famous long brunette locks for a short blonde bob.

In her latest Twitter profile picture, Jacqueline has also opted for an elegant look with a cream cardigan, pearl jewellery and glasses – which shows off her new hairstyle.

Still living in Canada, the soap star is now a published author.

While Jacqueline seems happy with her knew life, it’s thought that the move was motivated by her turbulent relationship with Christopher Stone, a one-time gang leader.

The pair welcomed a daughter in 1997, but Jacqueline was keen to keep her child away from the gangster who once boasted about “owning” Birmingham.

She explained at the time: "Chris and I are finished. I know he’s Alexandra’s father but there’s no way he’ll be playing daddy."

Leaving his name off the birth certificate, the former soap star busied herself with her young daughter and founded a performing arts school shortly after leaving Coronation Street.

Jacqueline later changed careers again and has become a successful crime novelist.

In 2017, she released her first thriller entitled In The Still and stated that writing has been a passion of hers since she left the limelight.

She said: "After having my two children, I decided it was time to quit acting as I didn’t want them be forced into the limelight because of me. I wanted to concentrate on the things that really mattered – being a wife and mother.

"Turning to writing was a no-brainer. I’ve always, for as long as I can remember, squirrelled myself away writing between acting jobs and even during breaks between scenes."

The former actress is keen to release another novel but has suffered from major health issues in recent years, including a herniated disc and sciatica.

In a tweet in 2018, she told fans: "Had to delay hair appointment by two weeks because I still can’t sit. I’m going to look like the archetypal hag by March 10th. #HerniatedDiscsSuck #SciaticaKickedMyA**.”
