Australia’s Falls Festival has become the latest major music event to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The organizers said in a statement on social media that in May, they were optimistic about forging ahead and supporting the local industry with an “all Aussie edition of Falls Festival.”
“However, given the current status of things and border restrictions in place, it won’t be possible to hold Falls Festival in our regular New Year’s timeframe,” they added.
The organizers said they are working with government stakeholders and key agencies to get Falls Festival back in the calendar.
Part of the Live Nation Australia suite of festivals, Falls Festival has been held as an annual event during the summer holiday in multiple Australian cities.
Past festivals have featured artists such as Iggy Pop, Halsey, Vampire Weekend, Jack Johnson, Billy Bragg, The Black Keys, and Blondie.
