In view of his 266,000 followers, the Strictly Come Dancing star took to Instagram to notify his followers about his solo appearance.

Dan wrote: “Anyone fancy a job on the sofa this morning?

“I’m flying solo on Breakfast today.

“Enjoy the leftovers,” he added.

The sports reporter added a snap of himself sitting alone on the red sofa, wearing a festive-coloured tie.

Dan is usually accompanied by Sally Nugent to present the Breakfast programme in the mornings, following Louise Minchin’s exit earlier this year.

Taking to Twitter, Dan also addressed his solo appearance on the breakfast show.

He wrote: “I’m a lonesome cowboy on the @BBCBreakfast sofa and am working my way through some mince pies and miniature heroes,” before encouraging his fans to tune in.

After announcing his solo appearance on social media, Dan was soon inundated with positive messages from Twitter users.

Elaine Richardson wrote: “You did a great job Dan!”

Twitter user Mandy penned: “Awwwww x looks very different you sat on your own x hope you have a great day Dan x”

While Karen Louise wondered why it was that the sports reporter was presenting alone.

She commented: “How come you are on your own Dan?

“Does the budget on Bank Holiday overtime only allow for one presenter?!” they added with a laughing face emoji.

Yesterday, Dan revealed that he had given his Strictly dance partner Nadiya Bychkova a thoughtful Christmas present.

Sharing a snap of the blonde-haired beauty holding her gift, Dan shared the meaning behind the present.

The star told how he commissioned a Sheffield-based artist to paint a picture of himself and Nadiya dancing in Sheffield to reflect on their Strictly journey together.

Dan explained: “[The artist has] managed to capture all the things which made Strictly so special this year and all the things Nadiya loved about Sheffield.”

Responding to the emotional post, the Ukrainian-Slovenian dancer replied: “Partner, you are THE BEST .

“It’s a perfect gift, THANK YOU so much! Merry Christmas partner to you and your beautiful family,” Nadiya added.
